HCom © Communications
HCom efficiently manages the exchange of information between sites. It includes the Polling Schedule Manager and the Task List Editor. HCom compresses incremental data (changes since the last communication) and exchanges it between headquarters and stores by way of the Internet, networks, (LAN and WAN) and modems. HCom uses DDC (Delta Data Compression) to keep the communication time as short as possible. Incremental data is gathered and compressed before the communication. Data received is appended to files after the communication. It is up to 100 times faster than earlier designs. HCom must be at every site and requires CAP SellWise. SellWise reports sales and inventory by store. It creates vendor purchase orders by store (not consolidated.)

CAP displays the customer information and recent transactions, so that a sale can be completed in seconds. Payment may be by credit card (on file for members) without having to find and swipe the card. This cuts the time for the normal through by experience by more than half!

Self Check-Out
CAP developed a self-checkout system for employees at the request of USAA in San Antonio, Texas. USAA has company stores that are open 24 hours for the convenience of their employees. Self-Checkout makes it possible for employees to shop for what they need, at any time, without having a clerk on duty. This system proved to be so popular that USAA has now added Self-Checkout lanes for the daytime operation when clerks are on duty. Many employees prefer the speed of the Self-Checkout lanes.

Check out starts when the employee scans their ID card bar code. A display confirms the employee identity. The employee scans the items for purchase. The total sale is continuously displayed and updated as each item is scanned. When the sale is completed, the total is added to the employee's account balance and sent to accounting for pay roll deduction. When paychecks are issued, the employee's balance is reduced by the amount deducted from pay. This only works for company stores or club members since no payment is tendered. The system is monitored by video cameras that record the check out lane on video tape with the transaction details super-imposed on the right side of the picture.

Accounting
CAP offers several choices for accounting since needs vary with business size, type, experience and preference.

BusinessWorks Link
BusinessWorks and BusinessWorks Accounting for Windows are designed to simplify virtually every area of business accounting, and no matter which modules you buy, they are completely integrated to work together. This is accomplished through their System Manager. BusinessWorks gives you the option of buying modules separately as stand-alone programs, or you can buy the complete system. This is a very comprehensive accounting program for small to medium sized businesses. Their software includes General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Control, Order Entry, Payroll and Job Costing.

When BusinessWorks is installed, an Accounting selection appears on the CAP Main Menu bar. The details of sales, customer charges and payments are sent to files that are imported into BusinessWorks. This eliminates the work of re-entering accounting details.

System Requirements
CAP software uses the proven DOS and the latest Windows 32 bit operating systems. CAP True32 © code was designed from the start to use the full power of these operating systems. This document will help you determine the optimum configuration for each installation and market.

How Many Stations (users) do you need?
CAP includes the POS and Back Office software for one station when you buy a single-user license. This means you can do sales and all of the back office operations from one station at a time. For example, a station at the front counter can make sales, and then exit, and a station in the back office can then begin to work. By going to multi-user, the two stations can operate at the same time. This is often the minimum starting point for most stores. You can continue to add stations until you have as many as you need.

How Many Stores?
You can add stores and exchange information with headquarters for as many as 999 stores.

Hardware Configurations
CAP software operates with many hardware configurations to give you the system best suited to your needs. For example, integrated sales stations, PCs with POS peripherals and workstations can share 'live' data using networks. The list of certified hardware is at capautomation.com.
